Nezzie with Mouse

Throw back Thursday!  This is one of my all-time favourite photos.  It was taken in Ecuador in 2005.  I was staying with my friend Yves at his permaculture homestead in the Andean mountains (a place called "Sacred Suenos").  There were no panes in the windows or doors in the door frames of the straw bale house we lived in, nor was there great need for them.  On this night, while we sat around playing cards, Nezzie the cat brought a mouse in that she had caught, to play with a bit.  She was told to remove it from the house but when she refused Yves took hold of the situation.  I lifted my camera as they were passing and caught this decisive moment, ever to be remembered.

Welcome to 2017 Molly Miksa!

After 6 1/2 years of parenting and major transitions, at the end of 2016 I find myself diving deep into the business and the art of photography (where I had been holding my head up, but treading water, for so long).  I re-emerged from the haze of the early years of parenting (the kids are 6 and 2 now) and everything is new.  Where I am is new (I moved from Toronto to London, Ontario).  What I'm doing is new (focusing on working with older adults).  How I'm doing it is new (all the software, all the systems).  Even my name is new (I used to be Molly Crealock).  What isn't new?  My eye - it's as good as or better than ever; my expertise with a camera; and my energy.  I've been eager to plunge in deeper, do so much more, for the last 6 1/2 years.  I am more than ready!

I designed my previous website from scratch and had terrific Drupal programmer/artist Andrew Mallis build it for me.  I loved it.  But my programmer outgrew building websites for artists and the times outgrew the functionality of the site.  With a heavy heart, I let it go and found here a new place to house my work, a new site ready for the next steps.  Hello new site!  I am ready!  Let's do this!
